A Family Night Idea

A few family nights ago, we went to the DI (like a Goodwill). The goal was to each find something to buy.

I picked out a few books for Tali to get (I didn't trust her, at her age, to pick something out that we would just end up dropping off the next week, not that she even really minds anyway.) I found a purple vase that I'm actually really happy with. James was having trouble. He was hoping to find a book, but didn't have any luck. I told him that he HAS TO find something. So, he picked a mug. It has a picture of the moon on it and says,

"Moon (moon) n. 1. Earth's natural satellite. 2. Diameter: 2160 miles. Distance from Earth: 238,856 miles. Orbital period: 27.3 days. 3. Space date. July 20, 1969: Apollo 11 lands on moon and later returns to Earth."

I'm still waiting for the day that we're glad that we have that mug lol.

All together it was $3.00. It was a fun, cheap thing to do for family night.

Family nights are my favorite :)

Sorry the picture is a bit blurry. It really bugs me.

  1. Fun! You'll be glad you have that mug when someday down the road one of your kids all of a sudden knows a bunch of random facts about the moon, and you wonder how he knows it, and then you realize he's been using the "Moon Mug"!! :)

  2. I've been searching for that mug for more that 15 years! I bought one of these uniquely personalized mugs at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry sometime around 30 years ago. Unfortunately, about 15 years ago I broke it.

I would love to talk to you about buying that mug from you. Please, please, please, contact me at your convenience.
