Some Things Are Better In Theory

I thought I had a fun idea to make our day a little more interesting.. I thought I could add some food coloring to our dinner to make it more fun. I decided on pink. And I decided on Tuna Helper.

Atalia loved it.

Not sure if it was just the pregnancy, but the looks of it grossed me out. I still tried to eat it and it was good. So, as long as I didn't look at it, I was alright.

James came home and took one look at it and asked, "Why!?" I was kind of thinking that this kind of thing would gross him out. And it did. He tried to eat some, but couldn't do it. The looks of it were too much for him.

I was just trying to make it fun!!! lol Sometimes, things are better in theory and sometimes not even then haha.

Our Day Of Green

 Our St. Patty's Day...

Last year I remember dropping the ball on St. Patrick's Day, so I tried a little harder this year (lol but not that much harder)

We started off with Lucky Charms for breakfast and shamrock necklaces.

Tali and I painted our toes green.

We set up our platter of green fruit.

We introduced Tali to Yoda. She absolutely loved it. Here's a picture of her mouth hanging wide open while she watches.

We made macaroni art on green paper and played a game of hide the paper shamrocks and let Tali go around finding them.

This was actually the day that we found out that I was pregnant with my 2nd child! It's something we had been wanting for a very long time and tried to stay positive about, but for whatever reason, I guess, this was the right time. Made it a very special St. Patrick's Day :)

Sometimes Fridays...

Sometimes Fridays are hard. By the time James gets home from work and we eat dinner it's usually around 7:00 and Atalia goes to bed around 8:00. That doesn't give us a lot of time to do much. So, Fridays can be tough and no one wants to treat Friday like a weekday. Sometimes it takes some figuring out to try to make it a little more special.

I thought making a fun, yummy dinner would help make our Friday a little more special.
We did a sandwich bar and it was delicious!

We got some nice bread, bacon, sandwich meats, lettuce, cheeses, sauteed mushrooms, eggs over-easy, blue cheese, guacamole sauce, banana peppers, and all those condiments of course.

Maybe it doesn't sound like much, but it was fun! And REALLY yummy.

This was my sandwich... YUM. My dream sandwich :)

We still went to out afterwards to Target, just to get out, but I would say it was the dinner that made it a special Friday :)

A Family Night Idea

A few family nights ago, we went to the DI (like a Goodwill). The goal was to each find something to buy.

I picked out a few books for Tali to get (I didn't trust her, at her age, to pick something out that we would just end up dropping off the next week, not that she even really minds anyway.) I found a purple vase that I'm actually really happy with. James was having trouble. He was hoping to find a book, but didn't have any luck. I told him that he HAS TO find something. So, he picked a mug. It has a picture of the moon on it and says,

"Moon (moon) n. 1. Earth's natural satellite. 2. Diameter: 2160 miles. Distance from Earth: 238,856 miles. Orbital period: 27.3 days. 3. Space date. July 20, 1969: Apollo 11 lands on moon and later returns to Earth."

I'm still waiting for the day that we're glad that we have that mug lol.

All together it was $3.00. It was a fun, cheap thing to do for family night.

Family nights are my favorite :)

Sorry the picture is a bit blurry. It really bugs me.

Shirley Temple And Harry Potter

I think it was a little more than a month ago that we went up to Logan to see James parents perform in the Children's Storytelling. We stayed at my parents :)

My parents are housing a horse for some friends and they've really come to like having the horse around.

Atalia's cruls reminded of Shirley Temple.

Quick walk to the park.

We met Grandma and Grandpa and had lunch. Then we went off to this Harry Potter thing going on at the theater where my in-laws were performing that night.

Entering the Harry Potter area.

They did the sorting hat and Atalia was Gryffindor. Awesome.

She's wearing her Gryffindor sticker.

They give you a broom and a ball and take you through a hallway and at the end, you get the ball through this wreath hanging in the air. I think Atalia got it right in the first try! I was impressed.

Then you enter a room with a lot of games. There was a potions table, a cake-walk Harry Potter theme game, and dueling with wands game. You win tickets with each game and then you can turn your tickets in for candy which included the every flavor beans.

James getting ready to duel.

James and his dad dueling with wands.

There were some book-signings and things going on that we looked around at and then walked down Main Street and stopped at this candy store. They had this game that you give a quarter to and put your hand on it and then it tells you what you are going to be.

It said Atalia would be an artist.

I think it said I would be a lawyer. I'm skeptical that it can really tell the future.

That night we watched my in-laws perform. It was so fun! They are so talented. I was glad my parents could see them perform too :) I think Atalia was really proud of her grandparents too. We all went out to eat after that and we went home the next day. Even with my energy being so low, it was still lots of fun!

Photo Shoot March 4, 2012

The next day was Tali's Birthday.
It was Sunday, so we got ready for church.

Officially THREE!!

When we got back from church, we opened some more presents.

Tali loves her Spider Man! lol

We had some friends over for some more cake and ice cream that night. What a fun Birthday!

It's Her Birthday Party

Atalia Rae Hansen turned THREE!!
I don't like how quickly she's growing!

These pictures turned out blurry :( I hate my camera.. but at least I have one, I guess.
The decor

The cake is a bit messy looking, but I'm still happy with how it turned out.

We did a cupcake fondue. I got the idea here. I ended up changing up the frosting with melted white chocolate, I liked it much more. For toppings we did oreo crumbs, sprinkles, chopped up Heath, chopped Andes Mints, these tiny marshmallows that we found, and chopped up Reese Cups.

Poppie and Mimi came up for her Birthday Party.
And brought a tub of presents lol.

We decided that she could open 3 presents, since she is turning 3, before going to the movies.

Showing how old Atalia is.

We went to go see The Lorax. Even if the movie isn't very good, it's just always fun taking her to the movies :)

Afterwards, we went and took her to Build-a-bear. She got a cute orange kitty that she named, Robot.
She passed out in the car ride home. She NEEDED this little cat nap, she was getting grouchy.

We went home and opened the rest of her presents, one of them being this super hero costume!
She loves it! She asks to wear it everyday.

Showing her muscles. Lol why do kids always show their elbows?

HAppy Birthday Atalia!

It was a yummy cake. Yummm.

She wanted to sit with Poppie and Mimi on the couch.

A very happy Birthday! We love you so much Atalia!

We spent the rest of the night relaxing and playing with Atalia's new toys.
